Hair loss can be one of the most traumatizing changes that one would go through. Women for instance tend to have strong attachment with hair and therefore losing such hair can be traumatizing for them. Men also get chilly by the thought of being bald- headed. Hair loss in this regard has been shown to have detrimental effects on ones looks and appearance. When most women lose hair, for instance they tend to shave off the hair and adopt a look they do not like. When we talk of hair loss, it is worth- noting that such hair loss does not only happens on the head but also is the loss of hair in eyebrows and eyelashes. Persons in the fashion and modelling industry may particularly be affected by loss of hair in such areas.

The negative effects of hair loss transcends even in the social lives of people. You will find that such persons start withdrawing themselves from a certain social circle. Hair loss is caused by many factors such as aging. Aging is a natural process that cannot be stopped. However, hair loss may be due to other controllable reasons such as diseases and because of side effects of certain treatments. Chemotherapies for treatment of cancers for instance is proven to cause hair loss and even baldness. This is because chemotherapy destroys cells and in effect destroys hair cells causing hair to fall out.

Not to worry though because, it is indeed possible to treat hair loss. Several methods have been advanced and used for treatment of hair loss such as use of drugs and hair transplant. These methods though effective are very expensive. Hair transplantation for instance may be impeded by the lack of donor hair to implant on areas affected. Moreover, hair transplantation may not work where the donee has been in the past exposed to certain health conditions.

Designed by the reputable cosmetic group L’Oréal, Stemoxydene is a product that offers a sure treatment of hair loss. Also known as, Neogenicto, the product works to provide the environment for optimal hair cells. This innovation embraces the rare and novel stem cell technology informed by the understanding that stem cells in hair follicles are responsible for hair degeneration. Creating therefore an optimum environment for the cells thus is the answer to ensure hair degeneration. The therapy helps to maintain and sustain stem cells for growth and degeneration of hair follicles.

Generally, stem cells in the body are the starting point of the formation of all body cells. Whey they divide, stem cells they form what are called the daughter cells. The daughter cells in turn may either form new stem cells or form specialized cells such as blood cells. The stem cells in this regard are activated the hair follicles that may have been dormant to grow new hair. Apart from making new cells and renewing body organs and tissues, stem cells maintain such body organs and tissues.

Previously it was thought that bald men or persons with hair loss had fewer follicle stem cells than those persons who are non- bald. That is perhaps why manual implantation was the thought effective method. Recently however, studies have shown that the bald and non- bald persons have the same number of hair follicle stem cells. The difference between the latter and the former however is that the former’s hair follicle stem cells are dormant and thus unable to develop into cells that can form hair follicles .To understand this, it is noteworthy that our head is composed of several hair follicles. Each follicle generates one single strand of hair. The hairs of an average human’ s scalp are said to be between 100000- 150000. Originally it was thought that once one lost the hair follicles as in balding, the only way to restore them is by manually implanting them.

In addition to creating a suitable environment for hair degeneration, thereby increasing the number of hair follicles, stemoxydene is effective in enhancing hair density. Hair density refers to the ratio of the number of hair follicles per square centimeter. When the ratio is low, one is said to have a low hair density. in this regard, this is the product works by creating hypoxia which is the deprivation of oxygen conditions in our body. hypoxia is very risky when say the heart and liver are deprived of oxygen. This may be brought about if the blood does not carry enough oxygen to such organs and other body tissues. Hypoxia may occur on only a specific area of the body, which is referred to as local hypoxia, or occur on the whole of the body. Hypoxia however has some advantages especially in hair restoration.

Suffice to note, the body has two reservoirs of stem cells. One reservoir is deeper in the layers of the skin and the other at the surface of the skin. Interestingly the stem cells reservoir that is found in the deep layers in the skin functions in a hypoxia state. This lack of oxygen in the deeper reservoir is what helps keep the stem cells in healthy conditions. The stemoxydene molecules in this regard function by mimicking the hypoxia state and thus enable keep the stem cells in the deeper layer healthy. Simply put, by creating the hypoxia conditions the molecules aid in stem cells survival. There is not only an increased count of hair but also an increase in fullness.

Moreover, hypoxia aids in increased prostaglandin- f2 alpha production. Distinction must be made with regard to increasing prostaglandin D2 synthase that has been shown to be elevated in persons with hair loss. The prostaglandin D2 is confirmed in several studies to cause hair loss while the prostaglandin- f2 alpha has been shown to stimulate hair growth. Simply put, by creating the hypoxia conditions the molecules aid in stem cells survival.

Most importantly, this stem cells based therapy is a natural method for treatment of hair loss. One is therefore undoubtedly cautioned against oral treatments for hair loss. Moreover, this is a non- surgical therapy. In this regard, the treatment is used topically, that is, it is applied directly to the area one wishes to treat of hair loss. Finally, to test the efficacy of stemoxydene, a solution containing 5% stemosydene was rubbed on the scalp of men and women aged between 18- 55 years daily for 3 months. The results showed an increase of 4% in hair density in the 101 subjects. This translates to growth of about 1700 articles in the 3 months.
